The Montessori Children's House of Valley Forge was founded in 1963 by a group of parents who wanted to provide a first-class Montessori education for their own children as well as others in the neighborhood. This Montessori school "with a difference" is a parent-owned, non-profit organization with a parent board dedicated to the mission of the school and to ensuring that the school retains its first-class reputation as one of the best Montessori schools in the area. The school originally operated with two classrooms in the Blue Bell area and in 1975 it re-located to the St. Matthew's Methodist Church on Walker Road in Wayne. Classrooms were added as the school grew and in 2005 the school moved to its current location in Phoenixville, the Sacred Heart Church Education Building. In April 2005 the Board of MCHVF learned that the Valley Forge National Historic Park intended to lease the Ivy Hollow Farm, a 3.5 acre property located in the Park less than a mile away from the school's old Walker Road address. After four years of extensive negotiations and due diligence a 40 year lease was signed between the school and the Park. During those four years the school embarked on a capital campaign to raise $1.5 million for the project, and was able to secure long-term financing from the Univest National Bank and Trust Company of Souderton, PA.
